Large Sweetleaf, 5 June 2013
The left-leaning multi-branched tree in the photo is a large Sweetleaf, Symplocos tinctoria, which is usually much smaller in Maryland. It occurs only on the lower Eastern Shore. This one is growing along Pusey Branch.
